Founded in 1937. GESS has a proud tradition of introducing skaters from ages 4 to 70+ to the sport of speedskating.
Whether your goal is fun, fitness or
pursuing Olympic Gold, GESS is the place to start! New skaters are
invited to watch, try it one time, sign up for our
Learn to Speedskate program or join our club.
GESS is a member of the
Amateur Skating Association of Illinois (ASAI) and US Speedskating
with certified level 1 and 2 coaches. The team draws members from
Chicago to DeKalb and Long Grove to Joliet. So come on out and see what
speedskating is all about!

Weather
and ice conditions permitting, the Glen Ellyn Speed Skating Club along
with the Glen Ellyn Part Distinct sponsors fun races for kids on Lake
Ellyn on Saturday mornings throughout the winter. Call the Park
District at 630-858-2462 for exact times and current ice conditions.

Team Coaches and Club Officers
Coaching is provided by a large group of experienced, trained and
certified coaches. Our coaches represent a mix of former, current
competitors at the National level, along with dedicated adults who have
experience working with children of all ages and abilities.
